Born
in Harrisburg, Illinois and grew up on a farm. In my adult years
I had a strong desire to pursue painting. While living in Louisiana
I studied with an accomplished teacher and author. As a student
I was able to participate in her workshops and seminars with other
aspiring artist, many of whom traveled to her studio from other
states. In addition to water color and oil classes I attended classes
in decorative painting styles used by craftsman in Russia, Germany,
Holland and some of the Scandinavian countries on furniture and
gift items.
I also create and provide custom tile and glassware decorations. Many of my custom designs are ordered for homes by decorators. Many can be seen in new homes in the Athens area. Nickelodeon Magazine of New York recently published my design for a “5th Birthday Plate” on their anniversary. Martin F. Weber Co. published an article I wrote for the “Teachers Notebook” column. Exhibiting in art shows has become one of my passions. Since 1982, I have won multiple awards in local and state wide competitions. The experience of presenting my art for judging has helped me understand what judges and the public look for and enjoy.I share my experiences in many types of art by providing demonstrations and classes for students. |
I recently taught classes for Continuing Education at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens. I now teach in my own studio. My paintings are currently on display in several commercial establishments including Franklin Bank, The Athens Welcome Center, Lake Athens Marina Restaurant, Dos Amigos Restaurant, and Gode’s GalleryMembership is associations for professional artists who desire to keep in touch with other artists and to obtain and share information relating to their craft. I am a member of the Art Club in Athens, the Watercolor Society in Star Harbor and the Central Texas Watercolor Society in Waco.For
over 20 years I have been a member of The Decorative Painters from
Wichita, Kansas. I have held offices in several of these organizations
and have provided workshops as requested by several organizations.
